Winter Series 2014 come to an end in Barcelona

The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will host the third event of the Winter Series 2014 by GT Sport and a total of twenty-four cars of the Euroformula Open attend this last pre-season event
The Euroformula Open approaches its dress rehearsal with a final pre-season event at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, the Catalan circuit hosting the third and final date of the Winter Series 2014 by GT Sport. As a consequence of the fact it will be the last chance to test before the season opener next May, twenty-four cars are awaited to be on track for these two-day tests. Be reminded that GT Sport confirmed, last week, the decision to change the format of this Winter Series event and the race initially scheduled on Saturday afternoon will be replaced by additional testing sessions. The decision was taken in response to the wish to have more testing (rather than racing) expressed by some teams, in order to familiarize with the 2014 chassis and engine upgrades. The new package brought out for this season is a substantive improvement as lap times were improved by more than two seconds and three seconds at Jerez and Paul Ricard tracks respectively. This trend is expected to be consolidated in Barcelona. With nearly all Euroformula Open teams attending the event, RP Motorsport enters four Dallaras F312 and they will be driven by Sandy Stuvik, winner at Paul Ricard, Artur Janosz, Andrés Saravia – making his official debut with the Italian squad- and John Simonyan. DAV Racing, second in France with Kevin Giovesi, will field three cars with its drivers to be announced before long. Emilio de Villota Motorsport is back with Yu Kanamuru, 3rd two weeks ago, Chewon Im, Alexey Chuklin and Igor Urien, the Spaniard behind the wheel of a F312 car after his good performances in the Copa classification last year. Team West-Tec and its already four confirmed drivers, Yarin Stern, Cameron Twynham, Nicolas Pohler and Christopher Hoeher is another force to be reckoned, meanwhile Campos Racing enters three cars for Alex Palou, who was brilliant at Paul Ricard, Sean Walkinshaw and Konstantin Tereschenko. Finally Corbetta makes its first appearance with Damiano Fioravanti driving another Dallara F312.
Copa will have five drivers, with Wei Fung Thong, winner among Dallaras F308 contenders in France, spearheading the entry list and teaming up with Thailand´s Tanart Sathienthirakul at Team West-Tec. RP Motorsport duo Constantino Peroni and Saud Al Faisal will also be present, and the main novelty is a Briton driver, Dan Wells, at the wheel of the Drivex Dallara F308 – the defending champion- driven by Richard Gonda last year.
